about elizabeth

It began after I graduated from Smith College, thirteen years ago, with a background in art history, painting, and theatre, and a junior year in Paris studying cinema and drawing.

My first post-college job was at The Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), Boston.

That year, I enrolled at the New England School of Photography, and studied under Todd Gieg and Nick Johnson.

I began photographing weddings in 1995 as an apprentice to Todd Gieg, and the following summer I began photographing on my own. I instantly fell in love with photography and purchased my first medium format camera.

In 1997, I did a portrait project under Rob Kangas, and in 1999, I completed a residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris. I’ve presented in workshops on photography, and taught in black and white darkrooms. I show my art work regularly, and have been featured in several publications, including Consumer Electronics Magazine, Sony Style, Modern Bride, and The Knot.

Personal clients range from rock stars to corporate moguls to drifters and wanderers.

Repeat clients include Columbia University, St. Ann's Warehouse, St. Dominic's Academy, Erbach Communications, Pain Therapeutics, The New Center Council and others.

I live and work in and around New York City, and spend my holidays in Boston, Detroit, California and the French Riviera.
